In the year 2009, PT Voksel Electric Tbk. recorded net sales of Rp 1.73 trilion, or decreased 23.74% compared to 2008 sales, where export sales decreased to 57.57% and local sales decreased to 6.31% (including contractor service). Electrical cable sales only achieved Rp. 1,312 billion, and copper wire sales were booked at Rp 170.95 billion. Meanwhile, telecommunication sales achieved Rp 245.19 billion or 14.18% to total sales of 2009.
The Company's net income after tax in 2009 increased to Rp. 53.56 billion or 924.1% from Rp. 5.23 billion in 2008, where the biggest contribution was derived from the foreign exchange gain as a result of the strengthening of IDR against US Dollar.
The Company is optimist to face the future with the stable government and recovery of world economy, especially the Indonesian economy as the government is seriously focuses on infrastructure development including electricity to attract foreign investment in Indonesia. Moreover, the 10,000 MW phase I and phase II acceleration programs would increase the demand for transmission and distribution cable. Meanwhile, telecommunication operators will increase the construction of fiber optic network due to the increase in income per capita and demand of bandwidth.
The Company performs continuous improvement program, increase efficiency and productivity to face the fierce competition, and will formulate effective strategy to face the competition especially to face ACFTA early this year.
